Our cast iron pieces are finished with authenticity in mind. Rather than applying modern lacquers or sealants, each product is carefully hand-waxed. This traditional finish provides a light protective layer against moisture while preserving the natural character of the iron.
As with all genuine ironwork, occasional light surface rust may appear if the piece is exposed to damp conditions. This is perfectly natural and can be easily remedied by applying a small amount of light oil (such as WD-40) and gently polishing the area with fine-grade wire wool.
Over time, many of our cast iron and wood pieces will mature beautifully, developing a rich and individual patina that enhances their timeless appeal.
Should your product arrive with a light residue of wax from the finishing process, simply wipe the surface gently with a soft cloth.
