Chopping Board Care

Everyday Cleaning

To keep your board spick and span for daily use, give it a clean with warm soapy water

Remember, don't dunk it in water!

Just give it a gentle scrub, rinse it off, and pat it dry with a towel. Then, give it some fresh air to air-dry completely

Do’s and Dont’s

DO let your trusty board join in on the mealtime fun! Don't be scared of a few marks, you won’t ‘ruin’ it, that's just a story in the making

DO shelter your board from harsh sunlight to keep its colour and shine

DO keep your board flat when possible to avoid any wacky warping adventures

AVOID acidic foods as these can strip away the finish, which means more reconditioning work for you

AVOID bright coloured foods if your board is light in colour (beetroot, curry powder, etc.) as these may stain

DON'T soak your board in water or let it sit soggy for long

DON’T put your board in a dishwasher, microwave, or oven!

DON'T use edible oils like olive oil or veggie oil to condition your board. These oils get yucky and spoil, ruining your board's mood

Remember, your board is a natural beauty, so keep it safe from water

A little board conditioner goes a long way in keeping that shine and stopping it from splintering

Board Conditioning Instructions

Our handmade blend of food grade mineral oil and natural beeswax will revive your boards natural beauty, quench its thirst, and give it that much-needed colour boost

How To Use:

  1. Clean your board thoroughly with warm soapy water
  2. Allow to dry completely
  3. Apply the board conditioner to all sides and edges of the board
  4. Wait 5 minutes for the conditioner to soak in
  5. Repeat if desired
  6. Wipe away any excess finish

If you constantly only apply the conditioner to one side of your board you will find the dry side will breathe more than the conditioned side which can lead to warping

For the best long term care of your board we recommend using the Cast & Wood board conditioner whenever your board starts to look and feel dry
